You can add anyone to your Hot Lists by clicking in the person's profile.

To view your Hot Lists, click Hot Lists in the top menu. You'll land on Your Favorites page and can go to other Hot Lists from the left menu.

You can define type relationship with a Hot listed user when adding him or her

You can take someone off of your Friends list by going to your Hot list and clicking the line: Remove from Hot list.
